I recovered the chalice, but it does not show in my inventory, my only option is to tell friar I have not yet found it, and nobody congratulates me or acknowledges that I found it.

I downloaded and installed from the game files; I do not use Galaxy. Is there a later version that will solve this issue and the one I mention below?

The game version is 1.03.1. I am running Windows 10 home.

Perhaps 1/3 of the time that I start the game, the computer crashes to a black screen. The only way out is to reboot the machine.

Thanks for reading and for any help.

Hi,
so how exactly do you know that you have recovered the chalice, when it's not in your inventory? Normally the Shaman Lieutnant has it in his inventory.

1.3.01 is the latest official Version.

I don't know much about casual (->1/3 chance) crashes after startup. So maybe try windowed mode.
What does the siege.log say after crashing.
Thanks Backpacksepp.

I don't see the problem. In any case, when it crashes, it is right after the opening video with the book being pulled from the shelf. I never get to the load/ new game, etc. screen.

As to the chalice, when I've dispatched the mage in the tunnel adjacent to the church basement, if I recall correctly, I get a message that I've recovered the chalice. Despite that, it is not in my inventory, nor is it on the ground or anywhere else I can find it.

Thanks for any other suggestions you could offer. I enjoy the game, but this kind of puts a damper on things.
Went back and replayed that section of the game.

Upon killing the mage, I get a message that I see a golden chalice clutched in the hand of the dead mage.

Despite that, I cannot see it to pick it up and it is not in my inventory, though my Journal seems to say I have it (something about how it feels when I hold it in my hand).

Frustrating!
According to the siege.log it seems like the known issue the games has with AMD graphic cards. The game crashes also and the siege.log terminates at "Loading Cursor". But it's very strange because that it happens only on occassion in your case.

Maybe try this patch https://soamigos.de/wbb5/filebase/index.php?file/43-steam-gog-siege-of-avalon-anthology-patch/ because the issue mentioned above is fixed by checking the AltCursor Option.
BTW: You can set Showintro to false and ShowOutro to false in the siege.ini in order to skip the intro.

Of course you have to loot him. (Looting is only possible when not in combatmode.)

The patch seems to have cured the problem though I do not have an AMD video card.

I did not realize that one must be OUT OF COMBAT mode to loot the bodies. (I must have missed that in the manual?

I expect to enjoy the game very much. I will start over at the point where I first venture into the village. Lots of loot to collect.

Many thanks Backpacksepp for taking the time and trouble to offer suggestions. I, for one, appreciate your help.
