HI I wonder if anyone has had this issue and knows a solution. The graphics for the game are fine aside from the fact a fair few islands and landmasses (especially around towns) are just a mass of large blocky pixels. I've tried playing around with in-game graphics options but problems remain.

Any help much appreciated!

I had problems to start the game and after playing some time it turned into white pixel clouds drifting around my ship instead of other ships and terrain.

If you have Windows 7 try this from the GOG Help page:

It resolved both problems for me.
