Okay so I've been a fan of Pirates! games for a long time now and I especially love this remake. However it's been very hard to play it for the past few years because the original version of the game has problems with multi-core/processor systems. In the past these problems could be somewhat worked around by setting the CPU affinity for the games process, but this was an even bigger pain in the ass when playing the game via wine on Linux (not impossible, but a PITA).
In any event, I downloaded the GOG version of Sid Meier's Pirates! this morning and installed it into a Crossover XP bottle and to my astonishment GOG has taken care of all that. This game ran almost flawlessly (and yeah I actually had the Gamers Gate version installed in a separate bottle and used it for comparison) minus a few graphical bugs here and there in battles from time to time.
I am very impressed GOG! Keep up the great work!
