Great to see this game here -- finally :)

Just wanted to drop a note for those wanting to play this game on Linux. Hopefully there will be a script available in the near future for PlayOnLinux. But one important thing you absolutely need to get it working is to install the component MSXML3 as native. Without that, the game will crash or not work properly, like not showing the map, or bugging out at certain wonders (Stonehenge iirc, basically world map wonders/technologies).

I had problems when playing this game before on Linux, but after finding this tip somewhere deep on WineHQ, the game ran perfectly.

Which game is this for and how soon would this show up? Had successful reports of both games and neither mention msxml3. Not sure how much playtime they have gotten though.
Sid Meier's Civilization® III Complete (1.9.23)
Sid Meier's Civilization IV®: The Complete Edition (1.9.23)

I was talking about Civilization IV.

It doesn't always show up right away, so that may be why it wasn't mentioned. Sometimes the entire map would be black, and there were some technologies that made the error pop up too. I don't remember all the details now because I haven't played the game for at least a year, but I think Stonehenge was one of them. That's a very early wonder, so it should be possible to test it without spending much time.

Actually, I found some more details about it, written by some unknown entity... :D

Thanks!
I don't know about GOG version, because I don't own it here (yet), but for the Steam CIV III and CIV IV, I've had mixed results with using Wine.

CIV III runs. With anything but latest Wine there is problem with displaying some lines, like in F4 foreign advisor. With the latest wine, these lines are displayed, but in glitchy colors. Also I hear sound cracking and repeating sounds (this is especially annoying).

CIV IV runs ok. I've had full play-through of several maps. However running mods is hit and miss. Dune Wars for example seems to work, but I can't load saved game, it crashes. I have not been able even to run Star Trek mod. If anyone has any help in resolving this, I'm all ears.

EDIT:

Seems like CIV IV is near flawfless experience with mods also. With Star Trek I made a mistake of manually extracting the files, instead of using the installer. Mod now works correctly. With Dune Wars, I've been able to workaround loading issue with creating new game first, then I'm able to load the game. For Arrakis!
