With the Civ series having been so long lived series, it become easy to lose track of the entire order.

So what exactly is the order, including the expansions? For example I know IV has Beyond the Sword, Colonization and Warlords, but I'm not sure of the actual order.

Civilization III:
1) vanilla
2) Play The World
3) Conquests

Civilization IV:
1) vanilla
2) Warlords
3) Beyond the Sword

Civilization IV: Colonization is a separate thing despite its name - it's a remake of Sid Meier's Colonization on the Civ4 engine.

That's 2 of six. And while that does cover the two I was most confused about, I was thinking it'd be nice to have a reference post.
Oh, no problem.

Civilization I:
1) vanilla (1991)
2) vanilla Windows re-release (1995)
2) CivNet (1995) - Windows re-release with multiplayer

Civilization II:
1) vanilla (1996)
2) Conflicts in Civilization (1996) - scenario pack
3) Fantastic Worlds (1997) - scenario pack
4) Multiplayer Gold Edition (1998) - package of Civilization II with both scenario packs and multiplayer functionality (plus uncooperative AI bug)
5) Test of Time (1999) - semi-remake by MicroProse done without Sid Meier

*Civilization III:
1) vanilla (2001)
2) Play the World (2002) - first expansion pack
3) Conquests (2003) - second expansion pack

*Civilization IV:
1) vanilla (2005)
2) Warlords (2006) - first expansion
3) Beyond the Sword (2007) - second expansion

*Civilization IV: Colonization (2008) - remake of Sid Meier's Colonization on the Civilization IV engine

*Civilization V:
1) vanilla (2010)
2) Gods and Kings (2012) - first major expansion
3) Brave New World (2013) - second major expansion
NaN) insane number of DLC civilizations and scenario/map packs

*Civilization VI:
1) vanilla (2016)
2) TBA???
