Little disappointed. I don't know why I assumed I'd be able to run this in a window, the other gog game I have do.

Any ideas?

The only way I've ever been able to put SMAC/SMAX in windowed mode was using a virtual machine. I used VirtualBox, but I know there are other options available for Mac if you don't like VirtualBox, although I haven't used any of them.

try this:

rightclick wrapper --> show package content --> wineskin --> screensettings --> override --> virtual desktop (select decorated window option) --> choose the desired resolution. Now run the app by doubleclick.
