Hello There,

I've just installed and started playing SMAC (a friend bought it for me ages ago, but I've only just got round to playing it) and have run into a little issue. Whenever I right click the menu appears for a fraction of a second and then disappears again. I can eventually get it to stay up, but it requires lots of clicks. I've noticed the issue on chrome as well when using the spell checker (I thought I'd fixed it by disabling hardware acceleration, but it's now back), but don't have it anywhere else.

Does anybody know if there is a fix for this?

Cheers,
May I ask in what OS do you have the issue? Do you have an antivirus/ internet security program running in the background? If so, have you tried to disable it for a while and see if the problem persists? The same goes for anything that is running in the background when you try to run the game.

I'm running XP Pro 32-bit. I've got an antivirus running, but haven't tried disabling it. I'll try that later and get back on the results.
I've just checked and the anti-virus wasn't doing it, however PDF Architect was! I didn't even realise it was running as a process (teaches you how many things add themselves to the process list and start-up files without consulting you I suppose); chrome seems to be fixed now as well.

Thanks,

P.S. Is there any particular explanation for why this would happen in general? Do some processes modify the behaviour of menus etc.?

I'm glad that you have identified the source of the problem. I don't know why it happened, maybe a conflict between the two programs or something.. Just remember to check what's running in the background when you have unexpected problems like this for example.

On a final note, consider tagging the thread title as "solved". ;-)

Take care and happy gaming!
