Sturleson: On a separate note, has anybody else ever attempted to make climate hurt the other factions? Like building a mountain range is supposed to affect the moisture downwind.
I've done this, using military-grade formers (customized in the workshop) to raise a mountain and create a rain shadow around large enemy bases. It works OK, as the sudden drop of food really wreaks havoc with populations and drones.

But even with Weather Paradigm it's slow and expensive. By the time I feel comfortable undertaking such a project I usually have faster and better means of weakening the enemy. It's sort of like my beloved submersible aircraft carriers-- fun, but inefficient and ultimately not very practical.

Sturleson: My original disc still works, so I never really looked at AC on here, but i noticed they have the expansion and I'm wondering if that adds significantly to the gameplay. Reviews mention a few more factions and techs but nothing that stood out.
6 new human factions, each with their own unique new quirks. Adds new techs that make underwater cities more viable. Adds new centauri-techs and alien-lifeform units, giving more options to eco-friendly military strategies (and making the Planet more dangerous). A new playable alien race w/ their own 2 factions and diplomacy quirks (these 2 aliens factions are always in vendetta against each other, and each will aggressively extort the player to join against the other). Adds in new armor types that grant new combat bonuses/immunity, expanding the unit-design sub-game dramatically. Added some late-game techs that you will probably never see unless you are winning anyways.

I have been playing the last couple of days and Researched the Hunter Seeker Algorithm. In the past it Protected my Units from Hostile Take Over. Now it is no longer protecting them... Why?
Does it only work against Spy's??

as far as I know, if the reconnaissance team uses the improved algorithms feature, it can bypass the restriction of the seeking hunter (such a remark is in the F1 help on the project description)

How do you know on what side of the newly created mountain the rain will fall and on which the area will be dry?

The rain come always from the same direction.
