So far I'm absolutely loving the game thanks to Mandalore's review but is this game supposed to run as fast as it does? Like to the point I can't see my automated units preform their actions or the enemy preform anything?

Check the menu button in game.
You will want to check menu, game, preferences, and advanced preferences.

There are options for move units and enemy units quickly and also in advanced preferences move all units quickly.

If they are set to on you will not be able to see units move.

you can always use cheatengine and give the game the half-speed :)
