played this game ages ago, just found and re-bought. got scients patch, added DirectDraw = 0 to .ini file, it all works, but obviously the UI bar doesn't fit. was wondering if i can run this in a window instead? maybe i can run in a lower res in a window and it won't be so bad?

if not a window, did anyone come up with a fix of any sort for the UI? the black bits on the side are beginning to irk me...

Not sure if scient's patch contains pracx (https://github.com/DrazharLn/pracx), but did you try pressing Alt+Enter?

Then you need to install Pracx, and it will work. Follow the link i posted above. ;)

yup, just installed v1.10. i does work better now, now i just need to do something about the resolution. the buttons are still a little small, don't suppose i can fix the resolution in the .ini file. still looking into it.

Try to remove the DirectDraw = 0 from your .ini file and see if it helps. Also, see (or add if it doesn't exist) the line Video Mode=xxxx, where xxxx is the resolution you want, for example 1920. Not sure how the Video Mode line plays out with the DirectDraw line, so do some testing by having one or another or even both of them present.

Also, if i remember correctly, since you've installed PRACX, there should be a [PRACX] section in your .ini, where you can set the resolution for both full screen & windowed. I'll check it out once i'm home, if you can't manage to find it by then.

update: adding the pracx patch over scient patch, and changing settings to 1280w 720h sorts it!

i can run the game at a lower res, and alt+enter out when i need to, or run in window. no bugs or issues atm.
