The GOG release has the most recent official patch, version 5.0 (which is also known as the Win 2k/XP update). Press Ctrl-F4 in game to see this information. The "salvage unity fusion core" proposal is described on page 192 of the original manual.

Ok, thanks. Saw the 5.0, and found the Salvage Unity Fusion Core. For some reason it's not looking right though. Like I am still not seeing the Manifold Nexus (from 4.0 or the Borehole Cluster from 3.0. I dunno, maybe it's just because I havent played this gane in over 5 years and just forgot some things.

As far as being listed in the txt file, the Manifold Nexus and Borehole Cluster are there, just not finding them on the map, but as I say it's been a while since I played it so maybe theres something that Im missing and/or forgetting.

I got to say though, it is running great. No errors, crashes, or glitches even on my quad core. Heres to hoping that Alien Xfire is not too far down the road for GoG.

I believe a couple of the newer "features" are present only on Random maps, not the official Map Of Planet (whether in "normal" or "huge" form).
