Windows 8 64 bit. I got a amd 6 core processor thing with an ati radeon vid card.

I'm currently trying to get the game to boot. I'm running terranx.exe as administrator in xp service pack 3 mode. The game should boot. I have edited the ini files and direct draw is set to zero.

When I click on the terranx.exe icon I get nothing. The mouse may make a loading symbol for a second, but nothing registers in the task manager. I'm a bit confused by this. I don't get to any game menu at all, the program just seems to not work at all.

I have crossfire installed on my laptop which is a windows 7 64 bit system. But that file is an ISO that I got through a torrent website. That was also a hassle to get to work. I still have the ISO and currently I'm wondering if I should go that route because so far, the GOG file version does not work for me.

Does anyone have any advice? I havn't tried to DX package downloads yet. I'm assuming my DX is 11, and I don't want to download DX9 or 10 just to run one game. (Isn't it if you're running the newer version the older versions are included in direct x?)

*Would there be some sort of user account issue with this? I am not fond of windows 8 and the user controls. I did not like how I had to manually enable the actually administrator when my computer came out of the box.

Just changed the INI settings to this, its something that worked for windows 7. I am now able to get to the main menu in the game. I havn't tried playing yet. That's next.

Just downloaded the game and ran into the same issue with Windows 8. With task manager open, I could see terran (or terranx for the alien crossfire expansion) as a program for a second or two, but then it would disappear - not notifications, no error messages.

Copy paste to the Alpha Centari .ini file with the content flagged above and I can suddenly see the program load. Yay!

Figured I would add my two cents.
