I love GOG on the whole, but this is the first game that seems to not have had the care that the GOG team have applied to other games.
In-game, the game runs correctly, but at times when the game is displaying the menu or videos (the intro video for example) the window border flashes in and out of view (very frequently). It's not game breaking, but it is very annoying. Any thoughts?

It's not exactly the same problem that I had, but you could try disabling visual themes.
1. Right Click on Shogos's shortcut and select "Properties"
2. Select the "Compatibility" Tab
3. Check the option "Disable Visual Themes"
4. Click "OK" And you are done.

Unfortunately, I've already tried that. No effect :(
I have the CD version of this game and have had the same problem with three different systems, using Win98 and XP. I have had Nvidia cards on all three, so it is possible that it is a hardware issue (SHOGO was never very friendly with GeForce2 and later cards).
Possible fix for this problem add the line "maxfps 50" (without the quotes) into the autoexec.cfg in your Shogo folder. If it works it should stop the flickering for the menu and movies.

Thank you!!! Game runs the way it should now.

This almost fixed the problem for me. It still flickers once in a while but not too often.
Hi.

Just thought I'd give my input. Also bought the game a few days ago and had the same issue with the window border flickering. It did it ingame/videos/menu for me as well. Win 7 64-bit NVidia 8800GT, using 301.24 beta drivers.

I tried varying options in the game settings. Disabling and enabled, to no avail. Tried the maxfps one as well.

Nothing worked... however. I found a solution that works 99%. There is a slight flicker of the right side border in videos. Looks like a single line, 1 pixel in width. Every 10 seconds or so it will do the full flicker.

In the menu and ingame it is practically gone completely. Occasionally it will flicker the single 1 pixel line on the right.

As said above, I'm using NVidia, so you'll have to see how to do it in AMD drivers yourself.

I'm adding step for step instructions for those that are not familiar with the NVidia control panel and setting compatibility.

Running on maxfps 60 though if you want the exact settings I'm running. Also I ticked "disable joysticks" in the advanced section of the Shogo launcher.

Open up your Shogo folder and right click on shogo.exe and client.exe and then go to properties on each. Disable any compatibility, I found this makes the issue worse. Tick "disable visual themes", "disable desktop composition", "disable display scaling on high DPI settings". Apply. OK.

Next up, open your NVidia control panel. Go to "Adjust image settings with preview". Tick "Use the advanced 3D image settings". Click on "Take me there" or on the left pane "Manage 3D Settings".

Click on "Program Settings". Click "Add" and browse to your Shogo folder, click on client.exe and click open.

For me it added it in the program list as "Dragon: MMORPG". lol
Now scroll down and next to "Vertical sync" click the "Use global setting". A drop down list will appear. Click on "off". Click apply. Close window and launch game as normal.

Don't ask me why that works... but it does. For me anyway. :p You can also apply AF/AA as you wish. I found no ill effects from applying those and it makes the game look better.

Hope it helps someone that the other method did not work for.
