i ahve windows 7 home premium edition, i was able to get the game to work for all of 5 minutes to test it. when i tried playing again later it started crashing. i can get the launcher to start up, but when i try to start the game it crashes

The first of many crashes m8. I played this game on the original CD and GOG and it's got so many game breaking bugs.
There is a random chance you'll get to the a point near the end of the campaign and it will crash at a certain point continually. The only way to maybe get past is to delete the save and redo the whole game.

It's happened to me 3 or 4 times at least. Meaning I've played the game over that many times if not more, oh yeah and there are other huge bugs too. Great game though.

I'm sad to report that most efforts to solve the mfc crashes on newer versions of windows have been hit or miss at best.

One of the first things you can try is going into the gog>shogo directory, right clicking, and setting compatibility mode for shogo.exe,client, serv.exe to windows 98 or xp.You also want to make sure all those files have full permissions in security.

Try googling wobak's wide screen patch for shogo (can't link as Im on a phone) follow the instructions. then, if you can get to the launcher, go to advanced and turn off joystick, directx6 commands and disable pixel doubling.

I wish we could say these setting were guaranteed to help. Let us know if you make any progress.
