Well, this is frustrating. Every time I try to launch the game, whether via the desktop icon or via Galaxy, the game's icon flashes one second on the task bar, disappears, and then a whole lot of nothing happens. Oh, and when I try to launch on Galaxy, the system acts as if I closed the game immediately, "synchronizing" the (nonexistent) saves with the cloud.

It's a bloody hidden objects game, it shouldn't be that hard to launch. Does anybody know how to fix this ?

I've found solutions that worked for me.
Since I didn't see this one on GOG forum,
I'm writing it below if anybody needs in the future


1) open the folder with game files

2) right-click the The_Hound_of_The_Baskervilles.exe > Properties> Compatibility > Run this program as an administrator and Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 7

3) open game.ini with a text editor
Add the following line under the video section:

windowMode = YES

save the file, game launches
