Hello,

I have a technical issue with the Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One' game.

I have the full game + all DLC.

The game played fine until the last update a few days ago (I successfully played all chapters and all DLC minus 'M for Mystery').

When the 'M for Mystery' became available, I tried to start the game through GOG Galaxy as always ; the game intro started for a few seconds , and then I got that UE4-SH9 error code (see the picture attached), and the game froze and would not play any further.

I tried to start the game several times but the same keeps happening.

It is worth to mention that the game plays fine (with all the latest updates) for my friend who has the same OS and the same graphic card. So, i don't think that Win7 is the problem here.

I tried to uninstall the game and the GOG Galaxy, delete all saves, install all again, but the same keeps happening.

I can downgrade the game to 4 months ago (the game works when I do that), but I am not sure whether all the DLC that I purchased are included in it and will I get to play all cases.

Any help in solving this will be greatly appreciated.

Hello. Sorry for this late answer to your post.

Many Windows 7 users play their games months after their purchase. However, when they get ready to play them, they find that the games no longer work on their computer, mainly because of a recent update. This has been the case with No Man's Sky. Despite the game worked perfectly on Windows 7 (windows 7 is included in the specifications), from one day to the next it stopped working without any warning.

Another very different situation is that of games that initially require Windows 10, but can run on Windows 7, as has been the case with Sherlock Holmes Chapter One and others. Unfortunately, even if these games work well in Windows 7 at the beginning, it does not guarantee that they will work well later.

Sherlock Holmes Chapter One stopped working correctly on Windows 7 with update 7839_1.4, showing the same error message you have posted. It is quite possible that the latest version of the game have updated the UE4 engine, requiring some component that is missing in Windows 7.

Fortunately, I had conserved an offline copy of version 7719_Shipping, which works with no problems in Windows 7. However, some of the more recent DLCs are not playable in this version. As fas as I know, the only two DLCs that require the last version are "Moriarty" and "Mycroft Holmes".
