Cannot get this to start
1. Downloads and install w/o a hiccup
2. Run inside GOG launcher, starts fine, no troubles, freezes or any nasty behaviour
3. After I decide to leave, I close with the game on/off switch, closes "perfectly" fine
4. The first loading screen appears, and exits to directory

Here are my specs

Relevant Software installed:
1. Avast Premier, but even disabled presents the same behaviour

Any clues what is crashing it?

I have same problem with Shenzhen I/O. I use avast too but free version. My game was already installed. And when I decided this week to continue my progression in game. Instead of running, Shenzhen crashed on download screen. I tried several things as uninstalling but nothing worked. And in despair, I tried to save directory in document, in order to uninstall all parts of game even saves.

And after a clear install, game worked. But few minutes after launch game crashed. And after a new launch symptoms were the sames as before.

Perhaps problem comes from avast or perhaps from windows 10 security system. It seems something prevents shenzhen I/O to access its directory in documents. But avast gives me no warning about a problem.

PS:Sorry for my english, it is not my native language.
I had this same crash upon launch problem and figured out the piece of Avast which was doing this to me.

After confirming the game would launch past the pretend OS loading screen when disabling Avast entirely, I confirmed it is the Ransomware Shield (of all things!) which breaks the launch of Shenzhen I/O.

To solve this in Avast Free's settings, do the following
Navigate to...

> Menu (Upper right, with the current version)
> Settings (gear icon next to it)
> Stay in the "General" section and click on Blocked & Allowed Apps
> Click "+Allow App"
> Click Select App Path (assuming Shenzhen doesn't show up in the list, it did not for me)
> Find and select the Shenzhen.exe file on your system
e.g. "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\SHENZHEN IO\Shenzhen.exe" or "D:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\SHENZHEN IO\Shenzhen.exe"
> Assuming you have only the Free Avast features, Ransomware Shield will appear with a check mark next to it. Click "Add"

Enjoy playing again!
