So I recently purchased Shattered Steel from GoG. Among the bonus content is Shattered Steel\s 20 page manual. However, the said manual says you should read the full manual, which is contained as a PDF file in the CD.

Problem is: the GoG version of Shattered Steel is rather different than the retail CD version. For starter, there is no CD. But despite the large download size, I cannot find the CD image file either. The largest file in the installation folder is a file with .gog extension.

So, where is the full manual? Or is the .gog file actually a CD image file of some sort? I tried to rename the .gog file to .iso and mount it using Nero, but it doesn't appear to be a valid image file.

And while we're at it, how does the GoG Shattered Steel plays CD audio music without a CD image file?

i think that is the full manual. i looked it up and pages 1-7 are for "that" manual and page 8 on is the one from the cd.

as for the music. they changed the sounds to wav files and use that..

The full manual comes with many extra features, including the full story, which I've yet to find on the internet. The story climaxes with a nuclear war between India and Pakistan, and then the introduction of the corporations. I'd love to tell you more but I'd honestly like to find out myself.

Well, the said pages don't mention basic gameplay aspect like how to arm your mech. I can find out myself, but it's more comfortable if I have the manual.

As for the music, I don't really mind the format, as long as it's not MP3. :)

Anyway, how do I extract the .gog file? The music is pretty good, I like to burn my own audio CD using the WAV files.

I've tried replacementdocs as well as google search, nothing. I hope GoG will include the real manual in the downloadable extras.

once you install the game. just thumb threw the install directory. they are already wav files so you won't need to convert them. i would listens to them before making a cd as to not add a sound effects file in the middle of some of the songs.

I see.

Anyway, where to find the real manual? Why doesn't GOG include it in the download extras? Since the real manual is included in the original game CD, I think it shouldn't be hard for GOG to obtain it.
