Hi folks,

I jusssst bought Returns for Steam on Monday and wouldn't it figure it's on sale here today. Dang.

I'd like to buy the DLC Dragonfall but has anyone been in a position to use the DLC where you own the game on a different platform? The sales page notes I need Returns on gog.com so I assume this will not work, just wanted to check though since its ~60% cheaper than Steam's current price.

Thanks!
I am seconding this question! I got Shadowrun Returns on Steam when it first came out. Is there any way to get the GOG DLC to work with the Steam game? Thanks. :)
Great question!!! I am thirding it!! : D

I have Returns on Steam and would like to buy the expansion but obviously only if it will work on my Steam copy!!

Thanks

I'm also wondering the same thing. Hoping someone finds an answer.
Another +1 :)
+1 from me as well. I know this question has been asked before and never answered.
If you buy it as a gift the code don't let you redeem it unless you have Shadowrun Returns in your library but buying it for yourself is possible. However installer is set to detect GOG installation on your PC and works that way, like a patch. If you can extract the files alone from installer they will work fine with any copy.
Any official word, though?
It probably won't work: https://secure.gog.com/forum/general/release_shadowrun_dragonfall_dlc/post14
Well that doesn't mean it WON'T work. It just means that if you buy it and you can't get it working, you won't be getting any official GOG support.

There does seem to be a way to make it work, which is to extract the files and then copy them across - Shadowrun has a pretty modular design so it treats DLC (and UGCs) the same way it treats modules that came with the original; however, this requires you to be able to extract the files from GOG's installer first (as HenitoKisou mentioned).
A quick message to say it does work, if you can copy the files from a GOG installed version.
I tried, and I think succeeded, by copying the resources from my GOG installation to my steam installation.

What I needed to copy was 4 folders and their content:

{GOG_SOURCE}\Shadowrun_Data\StreamingAssets\ContentPacks\Berlin
to
{STEAM_SOURCE}\steamapps\common\Shadowrun Returns\Shadowrun_Data\StreamingAssets\ContentPacks\Berlin

{GOG_SOURCE}\Shadowrun_Data\StreamingAssets\ContentPacks\Berlin_campaign
to
{STEAM_SOURCE}\steamapps\common\Shadowrun Returns\Shadowrun_Data\StreamingAssets\ContentPacks\Berlin_campain

{GOG_SOURCE}\Shadowrun_Data\StreamingAssets\standalone\Berlin
to
{STEAM_SOURCE}\steamapps\common\Shadowrun Returns\Shadowrun_Data\StreamingAssets\standalone\Berlin

and

{GOG_SOURCE}\Shadowrun_Data\Shadowrun_Data
to
{STEAM_SOURCE}\steamapps\common\Shadowrun Returns\Shadowrun_Data\Shadowrun_Data

After that, I can start my Steam game with the Dragonfall startup screen, and start the campaign.
I didn't went trough the whole campaign, but the 2 first "levels" where playing fine for me.

Cool. Though you should in theory be able to unpack the files from the installer using Inno unpacker: http://innounp.sourceforge.net/

Which you'll probably need if you try to install the GOG DLC on a non-GOG install, as I suspect it won't even start the installation process by itself.
