How do you use medkits in this game ? I just started playing.
Basically, click the medkit in your inventory, then click the humanoid you wish to heal (you can click their portrait or them on the battlefield). It doesn't work on drones - they have repair kits that otherwise work the same way.

It will use 1AP to "apply" the medkit. If you are more than 1 square away from whom you wish to use it on (if not yourself) then you will use however many AP it would take to move up to that teammate (the path you will use is shown if you hover you mouse over the teammate without clicking to apply). I usually prefer moving first manually (to control the exact square I'll go to) if applying to a teammate more than 1 square away.

Each character has a finite number of inventory slots. These can be filled with medkits, drone repair kits, grenades of all kinds, fetishes, and other single use items. You can find med kits or buy them from a particular vendor. Depending on which campaign you are playing.

Your inventory appears in the same location as your spells, class skills, etc, and there is a button to switch which is presently showing.

Shadowrun has an obsucre rule that says 'only the *very* last heal (each round) a character recieves, can be healed'. What this means is if you get damaged twice or more in a round, and then heal, only the health from the last attack will be returned to you. If you pop a medkit and then try to cast a heal spell, the spell won't work.

Its intended to make health management a critical (and interesting) issue for the length of an entire run.

Thanks for the help Gentlemen. You both helped me out.
Some further clarification on the difference between heal spells and medkits. Medkits heal a set amount of damage+some extra from your biotech skill. A level one healing kit (base 10) plus level 2 biotech was healing 15 HP a pop. So a level 2 biotech either heals base+5 hp or base*1.5 (unlikely, but I can't say it doesn't work that way).

Healing OTOH heals the last injury you suffered. Period. If you get hit with a fire attack for 14 and then take 1 hp from burning damage, your 'last injury' was one hp. However, one time an NPC guard got the drop on me and unloaded a shotgun in my character's face for 28 hp (critical) and I managed to get a healing spell off before my character stubbed his toe and got back the full 28 hp.
