The Userscript at [url=http://http:steamworkshopdownloader.com]http:steamworkshopdownloader.com[/url] does not work as Valve has changed the Workshop's layout and the script has not been updated to deal with Valve's latest shenanigans. You can still use the site without it, but the thought of a Userscript appeals to me far more than the, lets be honest here, kludge the site represents.

Unfortunately, with Userscripts.org being tossed in a sack and thrown in the river by it's maintainers, it becomes a bit harder to find working Userscripts. Yes, you can make them yourself, but this particular wheel has already been invented once so there's no real need to reinvent it.

So after a bit of hunting Enhanced Steam Workshop Downlader on greasyfork.org works with the Workshop's current layout. You will still need to change the file you download into a zip, but at least you don't have to jump to another page to download the mod.

Thanks for this. I'll be able to use this script for several other games as well. I thought only the Steam client could download from the workshop!

I've been recently told that workshop downloads are now in a zip or other compression format, and has an appropriate extension for such. From a quick grab of a few random mods, I've seen .zip, .cpz, and .hwm (which I am almost certain is Hammer Watch Map as that was the Eye of the Beholder mod for Hammerwatch).

So if the file you download has an extension you don't recognize, check and make sure it's not a proprietary extension used by the specific game. Failing that, my go to program is 7-zip which open most archive formats.

That site that Staredown provided is broken. it doesnt do shit and im guessing that fat bastard must have updated the workshop to prevent us from legitimately download their stuff.

I'm using Tampermonkey Beta with Enhanced Steam Workshop Downloader script on Opera browser and it works for me

Psythik: Installed Opera + Tampermonkey Beta just to try this and I can't find the download button anywhere after installing the script. Care to help?

EDIT: So I found the button but clicking it does nothing... :(

It seems to be working for numerous games, the problem is on the API the file_url seems to be blank for most workshop items, I don't know if that is a temporary problem with the API or if steam are just not exposing the links to the public anymore.
