On the Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut product page, the product description starts off by saying:

"About: NOTE: The Director’s Cut is free to existing owners of the Dragonfall expansion for Shadowrun Returns."

Well, I own the Shadowrun Returns Dragonfall expansion, in that I own the original game and the DLC… but this standalone version is still showing up for me as a separate purchase. If it's supposed to be free to me, how do I get it credited to my account?

Or am I misunderstanding something?

Check your library. Under Shadowrun Returns you should have a gift code. Redeem that one for your standalone Dragonfall.
There will be a gift code in Account -> Library -> Shadowrun Returns. It is very hard to see because it's grey text on a grey background. Look beneath the installers and patches for this text:

My_serial_number:
Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cutgift code: http://www.gog.com/redeem/########

…where ######## is the gift code.

After you visit the URL and redeem the gift code, DF: DC will appear in your library as a separate game.

Very many thanks to all! I haven't seen this happen before, so I wasn't aware of the procedure. But yes, there was indeed a gift code, and it worked. Thanks for the answers.
Hej Guys,

a little late, but i just recently noted that there's the Directors Cut. I did found the Gift Code for the DC Version in my Library, but after visiting the URL it says that this code expired.
I did not download the DC Version before, and refering to the Text on the DC Page at GOG it's still for free.
Is there a way to still get the DC Version for free?

Thanks

I was wondering about this as well. I got Shadowrun Returns during the pinata sale and saw that there is supposed to be a code for the DC. However, I can't find the code, even after reading the above instructions. Now with your info, it seems that the code is expired anyway. Hopefully, someone knows more about this.

I am not sure if the promotion to get a free copy of the Director's Cut is still valid. You would need to send a message to Support to find out.

Allow me to explain. Shadowrun Returns is the original game. Shadowrun: Dragonfall was originally a DLC expansion to the original game. Eventually, the devs decided to expand and upgrade Dragonfall into its own stand-alone game as a Director's Cut. When this happened, anyone who had purchased the original Dragonfall DLC was given a copy of the Director's Cut for free. At that time, the DLC version was removed from GOG to prevent people from buying an "incomplete" version of the game.

That said, if you just purchased Shadowrun Returns during the recent Indie Pinata sale, you would not have received the DLC version of Dragonfall. Therefore, you would not be able to find any sort of redemption code in your account. I hope this clears things up for you.

Thanks for explaining. I was looking all over for the code for a free copy of the game because if I didn't find it, I wanted to buy the Director's Cut while it was on sale for $4.49. It took me some time to figure out pretty much what you just explained. It's somewhat embarrassing that it took as long as it did for it to dawn on me that the Director's Cut was originally DLC for Shadowrun Returns. I basically just saw the word "free" and that controlled my thinking for some time. Now that I know the details, I can go ahead and just order the Director's Cut at its low sale price. Although they won't be "free", getting both Shadowrun Returns & the Director's Cut for under $8.00 is still a good bargain. Thanks again for responding.

Well, I am glad I was able to help clear things up while the sale was still going on (only an hour to spare!). You are definitely right that $8 for two of the best Tactical RPGs in recent years is a good bargain. Happy gaming!
