Hey all. I bought Shadowrun in this most recent sale and I played it for about 45 minutes. I tried playing it today and all I get is a black screen with the mouse cursor on it. It doesn't lock up or crash, and there is no music. I have to Alt+Tab out.

Here's what I've tried so far:

Added SR to the firewall
Started SR in windowed mode, with various resolutions
Uninstalled everything (including saved games) and re-installed
Run as admin, and all other compatibility modes (well, nothing less than XP SP 3)

I had to install an older version of DX to play Sang Froid. Could that have messed SR up? If so, what should I do to remedy that problem?

Thanks!

Nope.

Do you have the latest GPU drivers installed? And what's your GPU?

I'm playing on an old i3 laptop with an integrated chip. I've checked the drivers and they're up to date. The curious part is that the game worked fine a few days ago and the only change I've made is that DX one.
I just want to say me too. My comp is about 18months old, and it's my first 'gaming' computer or at least gaming compatible. But this is my first issue with it - I'd almost think maybe I just hadn't played anything intensive enough for problems; lil Psychonauts, Torchlight, Grotesque Tactics, couple casual games. But Shadowruns as 'intensive' in quite the same way?

And before I realized I should put everything in 'gaming mode' from the firewall to the graphics card - I was getting watchdog clock interrupt errors. Now it's I can play through a scene finally, the first major fight but then it transitions to black - the mouse moves - there's some ambient sound, but nothing.

If my old XP comp could run Dragon Age, ShadowRuns shouldn't mess w/ something w/ a gig of graphics memory and 16 gigs regular, right? S'not a spectacular system, maybe, but still.
I played Shadowrun Returns before I installed Dragon fall. It seems to be an issue when you install Dragon fall.Shadowrun returns is faster. Wait a while at the black screen, try clicking around the blackness and wait to see if words pop up. It's just taking longer to load once you install Dragon fall for some reason.
