Navigate to the folder "cfg" inside the main Shadow Watch folder, open up the install.txt file

Edit the field "cd_drive" to match the same folder path as your Shadow Watch install, but make sure to place the entire folder path within quotes. I have my install inside my Steam app folder, as an example my install.txt would read:

purge_anims false
play_video true
cd_drive "C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Shadow Watch/"
cd_subpath /Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Shadow Watch/
cd_path C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Shadow Watch/
install_subpath /Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Shadow Watch/

Next, create a folder named "install" in your main Shadow Watch install folder, inside that folder create another folder than named "media". drag and drop the original video folder from your main install folder into "media". You should now have the folder path "Shadow Watch\install\media\video". Intros will now play as intended.

Some having issues with intro playback have mentioned installing the K-Lite Codec Pack as a solution. And I suppose you can set play_video to false to disable video playback but that kind of defeats the purpose of this guide.

Shadow Watch natively is a DirectX 7 game. Modern versions of Windows are dropping support for DirectX versions older than 9 and breaking compatibility, so we'll use a tool to essentially convert the old, deprecated DirectX 7 calls into something modern DirectX versions can read while adding some enhancements.

Download the latest version of the dgvoodoo2 ZIP, drag and drop "dgVoodoo.conf", "dgVoodooCpl.exe" and all the DLLs within MS\x86 into your main Shadow Watch folder.

Open "dgVoodooCpl.exe", head to the DirectX tab and select your desktop resolution. The game itself won't get magically upgraded but it'll keep your computer from taking a million years to switch display modes when you're ALT-Tabing in and out of your game.

Now to fix the janky mouse issues. Hover over the dgVoodoo banner at the top of the window, right click and select "Show all sections of the configuration". Navigate to the newly revealed "GeneralExt" tab and make sure "Cursor" is checked off under "System hooks".

The only thing I haven't figured out is how to get the Steam overlay to work without crashing the game.

Anyways, enjoy.
