The only reason why I bought this game here was that the intro videos are playing choppy at the retail version, which I already have, and that I couldn't fix that.

Guess what? I buy this game here, and playback of these videos is just left out. They are in the installation folder though. Is there no chance to make them show up, without playing choppy, when starting the game?

if you installed the game on C:\ (usual install), create the following directory:

C:\install\media\video (yes, not the game's directory)

Place the video files (intro and logo) there. Start the game.

Thank you! The videos play now. Unfortunately they are still playing choppy, like at the retail version. They play fine with Windows Media Player though. Maybe a problem with the codec?
Sorry but I really don't know, under WIndows 7 64 bits the videos play fine.
Did you try to update your system codecs via a pack like K-Lite Codec pack? Also, are all your windows and GPU driver updates installed? It could just be some outdated software causing the issue.

In the past I had fiddled around with the codecs in order to get some videos in older games running, maybe that's the reason. But according to GSpot (Codec Information Appliance) the codec for the videos of this game (MPEG-1) is installed. I don't think that outdated Windows drivers are the cause, though I am not sure at the moment that I really have all the newest drivers installed.
