Content-wise, this is basically the GOG release with enhanced visuals, soundtrack, and achievements. Regular price: $9.99, but for a limited time is 15% off.

Seems functionally similar to the GOG release with ProASM's SWP engine and its associated hires pack. Or without it, I dunno. I guess I'll stick to the free "Classic" version that I got last month from the site and try SWP instead of getting this or the GOG release, for now.

SWP 4.3.0 works great for most but for some it's not compatible with their setup. If it works good for you, you don't really need anything else. Proasm has worked to make versions of pretty much all of the total conversions made for the game compatible with SWP. All the TC's and SWP ports are available at ProAsms website or Shadow Warrior Central. SWC also has lots of other sw related goodness and is still updated to this day.


* SWP 4.3.2 is better for 1-8 online play. I think 1-2 player is all that works with 4.3.0
* 4.3.2 corrupts singleplay save game files.
* 4.3.0 ... does not.

I hope it works out for all of you. Or try an earlier port version of SWP or JonoFsw.. or use good ol' dosbox .. or buy redux .. up to yous...

And yet I will probably buy this because I prefer the official HD re-releases...

And I also have to sit here and sulk knowing Blood isn't going to get one of these HD releases.

Enhanced graphics? Where?
Don't get me wrong, I still love the looks of this game but I can't see anything enhanced.

HD re-release ? Redux is built of off the JonoFsw port which is also what SWP is built of off. They are OpenGL ports, if you are thinking Redux will look any different "quality" wise .. you are comparing an apple to an apple.

The HUD is remade.
And in the first screenshot, the "paintings" are far best detailed than in my 800x600 Gog version.

Why these enhanced versions are made for Steam and not for Gog. A money story ? Part of the deal, with the publication of the next-gen Shadow Warrior of 2014 ?

Meh, I always play the game with most minimal HUD size anyway... ANd I don't stay to watch pixelated paintings in games.

Really bummed me out to see this on Steam only. I hope that my GOG copy is updated at some point. Or a purchase option to "upgrade" is offered.

So is Redux a worthy upgrade or is it easier to just download a source port like with Duke 3D?

I don't have the GOG version, in fact I totally missed this game when it came out originally, which is weird because I loved and still love Blood. Anyway so I have the Redux from Steam but the T "Talk" command doesn't work.

Specifically I need to noclip out of a balls up on the Dark Woods of the Serpent level. I got the moving columns stuck and now I can't continue and my only save is after screwing that up so to get past it it means starting a new game - which I don't want to do.

Can I just ask you guys if the T "Talk" command actually works in the GOG version? Is is just the Steam version that doesn't?

T for talk works for me on the GOG version. For the Steam version they probably re-binded(?) it to a different key, so there must be some options screen, setup executable, or read me somewhere with the game that'll let you find out which key.

regardless of the "port" used, you are still getting the same essential game. You are not getting anything added or taken away. The battle has been one of simply being able to play the game on modern operating systems. Dosbox emulates a dos environment and so enables you to play the game right off the original cd. Around 2005? Jonothan Fowler created a port called JonoFsw which used an OpenGL engine and is compatible with newer operating systems. Other benefits include : Easier Game/Sound/Video/Control Setup, much higher resolutions/ better mouse movement etc....

JonoFsw is what all existing ports are built off of. SWP/REDUX are simply refined versions.
The SWP port 4.3.0 is the newest free port version that is best used for single play as it does not have a save game corruption bug ( a bug that eventually renders your save game files useless.) 4.3.0 has only 2 player multiplayer functioning properly.

SWP v4.3.2 is best for multiplayer use as 1-8 players is working properly however this version does corrupt the save game files you may have created while in singleplay mode.

SWP works great for most people but some people have errors with it. So it works for most but not for some.

* If you are getting sound issues try running the game in a different compatibility mode ie: XP/VISTA
* If you are having SWP mouse issues, try turning vsync off.

Steam does not have multiplayer enabled yet so why not hop on Meltdown and play some SW online. Meltdown Supports Dosbox and SWP versions.

I use win7 and 64 and it works great for me on both.. how do you think I put up youtube vids, play online and Put hi-resolution screenshots on Shadow Warrior Central ? .. SWP baby.

It doesn't work for me neither. The STeam Redux is the only alternative. But so expansive, just for a compatibility issue. Is there some genious who can give some stability to SWP ?
