So, i was in level 8. The one with the train puzzle and its control tower. While climbing the ladder to the riddle levers, i noticed the opened container with the secret statue and money inside. I picked it up, went before the levers to solve the puzzle, and pressed escape to save game. Here, my game crashed, and i was forced to do a hard reset, because nothing worked. My progress WITH the secret taken was not recorded, when i returned i loaded the previous saved game, before the door to the tower. But a nasty surprise awaited me... The container now ALWAYS has its doors shut, and i cannot get to the statue.

I have tried everything from restarting the level, to blowing explosives before that damn door. Now it is always closed by itself. I want to get all secrets and eventually, achievements. This is not a gamestopper, i understand, but it has stopped me dry. Please, someone, help?

I've encountered similar bugs. Usually reloading the last save fixes it though. I guess maybe you could go back and load an even earlier save, but that still might not work. That's what I'd do anyway.

Tried loading previous stage game up until that point of bugging... Tried loading save previous to that specific area itself... Tried restarting the entire stage... Nothing fixed it. I am even considering an uninstall and reinstall...

And now i found an even more aggravating side effect. Now ALL areas with containers containing secrets have all their doors shut. Like the blow up ship mission, which has another statue in a container. But this is ridiculous. I mean, HOW did the game's data become overwritten with "container doors closed"??? DAMN!

This is really strange.

The problem is either in memory (if you never turn your computer off, sometimes memory can get a little borked)
or, the save game is corrupted, or the install got screwed up.

You could try backing up the save games you've got first, then deleting them, then starting the game and using the following cheat codes to get back to where you are in the game:

use ~ to open the console

Enable ALL Codes:
Swgreed

Warp to Episode X (Starts at 0), Level Y:
SwtrekXY

Restart Level:
Swstart

Complete Map:
Swmap


I'm suggesting this to see if your save games were corrupted or if you need to reinstall the whole game. I realize you'd lose all your upgrades if you did that, so I'm not suggesting you continue playing after doing that. If the problem is still there, your save games could be fine and you most likely need to reinstall the game.

I finally solved it. I had to restart game in ex mode, reach that level again, and go for the secret. The container's door was shut down again, but in this playthrough (ex mode), i managed to get it opened as it should normally be, with a few "restart level"s. Unfortunately, in the original playthrough, this did not solve it. It wasn't too nasty thankfully, because i had to go through half the ex mode, just to max my skills/powers/weapons, and get all achievements! Now it is time for a heroic run!
