In the game hod and options menu there is a setting called "Melee Weapon Steering"

You've got 3 options: Casual, Basic, Advanced.

It says but that advanced offers more no assistance with cut direction but what does this mean exactly and what setting is best to chose. I was really impressed with the slice physics and I'd like to play well with the sword.

Also does anyone use the right click for slicing or just the left click and is the charge attack actually worth using?

Advanced allows you to steer the cut in a specific direction more than one time. This might assist with area specific damage, or maybe it's just a nuance the devs put in to give you greater control. And yes strong attack is worth utilizing in the beginning, but once you upgrade Katana it becomes a bit useless.

I like the advanced setting, it feels much more immersive.

Just bought the game, the controls seem broken to me. That is, I cannot consistently do one type of swing - never, ever.
