There is no music present in the main menu or while playing the game. Sound effects work fine though.
Anyone have any idea what this could depend on, and how it could be solved?
The game in question is Seven Kingdoms 2.

This question / problem has been solved by sortedimage
i have the same problem
Could one of you post the contents of your .ini or config files?
I do not really know how to handle that. It all turns to gibberish when I open these files.
Just open one of those with notepad and then copy and paste all of the information onto the forum.

But it is when I open it with notepad it (config) looks weird, it looks like this:
       - , ° P
Yea thats not right, as I don't have this game I can't really take a look further into it. If you haven't done so already contact GOG support team, tell them whats happening and send them a dxdiag as well.
Ok.
Thank you for your advice :)

Unfortunately it looks as though the music is not included in the gog install.
There is a separate download for the mp3s (along with the manual of course),
however I'm guessing that you'd have to burn them to cd as wavs/cda. In additon
you might have to have the first track as a data track (or dummy track), to get it to werk.
I just received a reply from support.
They are aware of the problem and are working to fix it.
sorted's advice seems to be a good temporary solution, until the problem is fixed. Even if it would prove difficult to follow it, if you have no CD-burner or do not know how to set up a dummy track, it is still possible to simply contiously play all the tracks from the sound track in the media player while playing, so I will mark his/her post as the solution.

It has not been fixed yet as far as I know. There is no genuine solution just the temporary ones.
Now, looking back at the issue I have come to realize it might have a bit premature to mark the issue as solved. The 'temporary' fix works fine, but in my opinion it shouldn't have been sold in this condition. There are similar problems with other games here at GOG as well,

GOG should fix this problem ASAP, not having music while playing the game is unacceptable and the workaround given in this thread is ridiculous. Come on GOG don't like be like Steam and fix this problem, i expect better from you and so all of your customers.
Between this and the Septerra Core dialogue skip issue on Vista/7 I'm getting a little worried...
These are major issues which happen for the majority...doesn't seem like things they could've overlooked in testing.
