Seems my king and sometimes generals won't enter a fort - current one has no general and four soldiers inside? Just fought off a creature attack so he needs some healing time.
Hmm, maybe nobody is here because everybody quit the game because it was fatally bugged. Not exactly a "good old game" in that case; more of a bog. It seemed like it might be an interesting game; guess I wasted my money on this one.

Unfortunately it appears I'll never know. As I said, it looked to be a good game but, with generals and kings refusing to re-enter forts after a fight, it really isn't playable for me.
i never had that problem,
are you sure the general standing next to the fort isn't ageneral coming out of the fort, moving out for the general you put in.

also in the menu (top right corner) i always choose to show unit-id "always".

Positive; I clear forts for the defense and didn't have additional generals so early in the game.
Did you try clicking on the withdraw button?
Also you can highlight and click to put your units back.
I haven't played the game for a while but I also think there can be only one general/ King in each castle.

This is correct. I just played for two hours and had no problems aside from some graphical glitching that cleared up once I quit back to the menu and restarted. If you have a general already in your fort, a new one won't re-enter. Also, if you somehow accidentally made a soldier a general and had him rejoin the fort after, the king won't enter the fort.

There's a chance than an enemy kingdom planted a spy in the fort while you were away.

In the future please tell us which version you're playing, either Seven Kingdoms Ancient Adversaries (7KAA) or Seven Kingdoms 2: the Fryhtan Wars (7K2). As for your issue, you can garrison any unit in 7KAA into a fort by selecting the unit and right clicking on the fort, and in 7K2 the same method also applies.

Yeah, I junked it long ago - the general thing never was cured. Also, the reason I didn't notice your reply for so long.
