Never played either of them, having now both here on GOG.

Is Fryhtan Wars an improvement over 7KAA? Are alien factions fit to 7K world? Any advices from serie veterans would be welcome.

Improved in some ways, yes. Though, I don´t know, if playing as a fryhtan really grands enlightment.
But yes, the fryhtan races are doing well in FW, most of them are the same as in 7KAA.
There is a campaign mode in FW, which I am enjoying pretty much and plenty of items/spells your commanders can be fitted with.

Bu there is no water, so no ships etc.

The diplomatic AI seems to be be improved over 7KAA. It doesn´t throw around so randomly diplomatic actions.

Am I missing something? Are there fryhtans already in 7KAA? Oh, that's even better, I never was a big fan of naval gameplay, I think since Warcraft 2 :)

The fryhtans were in 7KAA, but not playable and they added some fractions in 7K2. Although most players prefer
playing the first part of the series, I like to play the second one.

Yes, I have already tried both games, I've found fryhtans in 7KAA :), and I think I like 7K2 more too, mainly due to advanced GUI and overall graphics (I'm not a graphics fan, I don't like 3D engines and other 'modern' stuff in strategy games, but the good old sprite graphics of the times of its best quality is always welcome).

After my statement, "don´t know, if playing as a fryhtan really grands enlightment", I started to play with them.
Mainly with the Kharssuf (something like that :) ).

Until then, I assumed, playing fryhtans is all about "kick and rush", but reality is far away from that. It´s somewhat tricky and not a no brainer. Maybe it doesn´t grand enlightment, but lots of fun, hehe.

And yes, I don´t like 3d engines too. 7k2 is for a gamer like me, who plays almost games with low system requirements, kind of eyecandy.
