In this open source software "7kaa" in the game (Seven Kingdoms 1) the screen there are black bands on the side quite annoying.

Does anyone know how to remove them and get a normal full screen like in the original game?

Hi thedkm,

This has baffled me in the past, but I think it has to do with the Display scaling settings. I have an AMD GFX card, and via the Radeon settings for the monitor, I have selected the Display Scaling Mode as: Full Panel . Rather than "Center" and "Preserve aspect ratio" - I think those latter two add the black stripes.

Hope that helps.

Hi DeeperPhantom,

Thank you for your answer but unfortunately, I only have a Nvidia graphics card and therefore I can't find the options you give me.
According to the below link it looks you can find it if you go to Nvidia Control Panel / Display / Adjust Desktop Size and Position / Click on your monitor and then there should be some settings for the scaling and aspect ratio...

If you can find those settings where it gives options for Aspect Ratio, Full Screen (or full panel) and No Scaling, try selecting Full Screen (Full panel) scaling and hopefully it fixes it...

You might need to play around with it. The "Override scaling mode set by games and programs" might be worth a try if it doesn't fix it right away....

Thank you for your answer but despite all your advice that I followed the game keeps showing me these damn black bands. :(
The game no longer does a display mode change, but stretches the game window, according to your display monitor aspect ratio. The game was not made for widescreen, but for an old 4:3 fixed size, so to keep the aspect ratio, you get black bars to fill in the space.

There are various pros and cons for handling it either way. For one, I am not sure what windows 10 will allow with it's API anyway, as they have really changed how it works since the game was made.

I am planning to expand the rendering capabilities of the game, but I mainly work on it in my spare time.

I don't know what that does, but if its a display driver setting, that's likely not related to how the game works.
