Hey all,

Couple of questions:

My friend and I want to play Serious Sam 1 and 2 co-op over the Internet. he is in NYC and I'm in Canada. Do these games (downloaded from GOG) support multi-player function over the Internet? On the games' info page, it says they're both single player only, so I wanted to verify.

My second question: My computer can run Serious Sam HD and Serious Sam 2 HD. My friends' machine cannot. Assuming we *can* play co-op together, can I run the HD version and play co-op with him in the non HD version?

Thanks!
I've not tried it myself (and it has been around 6 years since I played them) but I've just checked the reviews of the original games on Gamespot and both First and Second Encounter do have co-op mode. However, saying that, I don't yet have the GOG versions and I don't know if the original games still have online servers to play on, though possibly you could still set up your own dedicated server if you wanted to play with a friend.

However, the HD versions of the games are made in different engines with re-built maps and textures. The different engines means that they are not compatible with each other.

As long as gogs serious sam ships with the multiplayer options you could use a program like hamachi to play the game.

Serious Sam original 1st and 2nd encounters both have online co-op available as well as deathmatch, etc. The game also has a gamespy server browser built in. If you were to play online with with your friend, whoever was running the server would need to make sure the game's traffic was forwarded in their firewall.
If you want to make your game private with your friend there is a selection for "Server Visible" when creating a multiplayer game. If it isn't visible then that game won't show up in server browser. The other person can still connect by directly entering the ip address.
