Playing Serious Sam for the first time, and the Marsh Hopper battle in the Oasis level is kicking my ass! Is there some trick to it I'm overlooking? Some way to get myself up onto that balcony overlooking the room to get myself out of their way while I slaughter them all? A cheat code i could use to boost my health? Something? Anything?! Please....
Never mind. Just after I opened this I FINALLY figured out how to blast myself up to that damn balcony where the Hoppers couldn't reach me. Ha-le-lu-ah.
Jumping out of bounds is basically cheating.

If you want to beat it normally, it is all about movement. Focus on one corner first and clear all the Hoppers that spawn there so you have a kind of a safe zone. Rocket large groups and once the numbers die down a bit, switch to Tommy Gun, stay in the safe corner you created earlier and just unload into them. There are several "phases" to this fight but the strategy should allow you to get through the worst one.

Mmmm, I'd say cheesing rather than cheating. It's not a very extreme glitch, you don't go void clipping or anything, It's just a regular rocket jump - cheesy but not cheating imo.

Cheesing, cheating, exploiting or whatever, you haven't beaten the fight regularly. I definitely would not be satisfied if I beat a fight that way. But of course, it depends on the player.

Tommy gun and enough ammo = Marsh Hopper Mayhem

Just as an aside, if the developers really wanted to force a strict means of finishing that fight, they could patch out the ledge. Same goes for a few other sections of the game as well.

I mean, you can take a Were-bull charge while jumping to get boosted out of bounds and/or on the wall during some of the wave fights. It's all part of the game without outside interference needed to accomplish it, so calling it cheating or looking down on it in a similar manner seems like an overly judgmental view to take.

Besides all that, it's Serious f***ing Sam, not tournament sanctioned Dota 2 or some stuffed shirt rule laden game. When the core mechanic consists largely of backing away from imminent danger to remain alive to continue enjoying the game, finding a means to take even a slight breather from that shouldn't be considered a problem.
