I got this game cause it was $3, I thought the setting looked neat, and the Chrono Trigger-esque battle system sounded cool. Little did I know that the battles would be so mind numbingly slow that I felt I had aged 10 years just getting past the pump station. I was so bored out of my mind it was nauseating.

I would love to play more of the story bits but I just can't bring myself to slog through the combat. Is there any way to speed up or skip the combat animations or something? Maybe a fan-made mod?

Hehe, you're not the first to get bored. Wait until you see the amount of fights in the later stages of the game ;-)
Unfortunately there's no way to speed up the battle animations.

But you can cheat:
Press F12 and enter IMAREALWEENIE

Now when you hit F12 and type in MAKETHEMSTOPMOMMIE enemies will stop attacking you.

Or alternatively and probably better, while in a battle, press Ctrl + F3 to kill all enemies and get the EXP, GOLD, and ITEMS.

I don't like to cheat. If the amount of battles only gets worse from here I might as well not waste my time. Guess it's my own fault for not looking into the game more before buying it. Thanks.
