Just installed SS 2006 on a Windows 8 laptop and was looking forward to playing it, but I'm having a problem starting the game. I double click on the desktop shortcut and the following application error message comes up:

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."

I've tried playing with the compatibility settings, but nothing seems to be working so far. I don't think it's anything to do with the game itself as it installs and plays fine on my old Vista laptop, but I'd much rather play it on the Win 8 computer. Any clues as to what this problem could be?
