Only recently had time to have another look at this, and while I haven' had the time to play anywhere near enough yet to make an informed opinion how everything works overall (because I'm still at the point of not really knowing how to play), the fact that there have been what look like significant changes is something worth mentioning.
Firstly, it appears that the "launch" happened a bit too soon, as it looks like a ton of mechanics have changed significantly - for the better far as I can tell. Either that or they're now unlocked earlier than before (since before we were forced into a long drawn-out pseudo-tutorial).
Speaking of tutorials, the new ones are very welcome. While I personally would have preferred a ridiculously thick and detailed manual describing the mechanics instead, these appear to do a good job of showing us enough to be able to play the game and have some idea of how we can actually do things (important since most things are not obvious and/or take a while to see an effect - which is what one should expect from a game where you're controlling things from the shadows).
I dare say the game looks a lot more playable now than it did at launch, and the future plans look interesting. I'll likely write a review when I can get a chunk of time to invest in this (otherwise I'd be wasting my time probably - this game is quite old-school in the time investment/depth, at least it seems so at the moment - definitely a good thing!).
And games where one manipulates things politically are already few and far between - ones where you do so "in the shadows" are... well the only thing even remotely comparable would be "The Last Federation", and that's a completely different game (yet is still the closest example I can think of).
So at this stage, in case anyone's wondering, and has somehow stumbled into this forum: go grab it! I can't 100% say it definitely won't disappoint in the end due to my limited time with it, but I CAN say it's the best secret society simulator I have ever seen. ;)
