Sailing around, fine...
Ship battles, fine...
Story, trading, questing around, fine...
The killer is the godawful controls when it comes to sword fighting, which truly breaks this game. Possibly the worst choice of keyboard controls, and least responsive of any game I've played.
Such a shame, because I really wanted to enjoy Sea Dogs, having missed the opportunity when it first came out. Now I'm even regretting the price I paid for it on GOG, as I was torn between buying this or something else.
Just to see if the sword fighting aspect might improve any with a better character, I downloaded a save game with the character maxxed out. Still no better & the sword fighting is just as terrible. I simply can't play that aspect of the game at all & unfortunately, getting to the point where this game will be confined to the murky depths, like the drunken sailor it is.
