I do not know if these are compatible with the GOG version (someone check this, please, as I do not own this game on GOG), but I know of 2 awesome mod packs (well, two different versions of the same pack but with significant differences) for this equally awesome game, which can be downloaded via the following link:

http://highnotez.com/hosemerc/sdaddon.htm

v1.11 has less content but is more stable.

v1.12 has more content than 1.11 but is unstable and needs some tinkering (i.e., deactivation of some of its components), if you want a stable playing experience.

EDIT: Seems like Hosehead's Website is offline for now. Working links thanks to the Pirates Ahoy community (and thanks to Tohvelisankari for letting us know):

I can't test it myself (not enough familiarity with the vanilla game to tell if everything works), but thanks for posting that link, it's a real resource.

According to preliminary reports on piratesahoy!, these mods seem to work fine with GOG version.

I have about 3/4 of the mods from the 1.11 installed and from what i can tell it is working fine. Only a few hours into a campaign, but making a lot more progress than without the mods. Thanks for pointing them out.

Great news! In a slightly unrelated vein, is anyone playing the original CD version on a modern rig? I'm tempted to take mine out of storage before buying it again from GOG. Upgraded to Age of Pirates 2: CoAS and hadn't thought about Sea Dogs in awhile.

Edit: Nevermind, I just installed it from the original CD and it works just fine. I had to copy the SDinstall file from the CD to get it running because the shortcut doesn't seem to work.

Just wanted to ask if there is another place to get mods for this game? The link provided in first post seems to be a dead one.

OP updated, thanks for the info!

I have both 1.11 and 1.12 installers backed up on an external HDD, so feel free to let me know in case the links should ever go down again.

Since the GOG release of SeaDogs, I've gotten many requests for the mods. Much easier to upload them to the cloud than resurrect my old site. You can find them here:

[SEE THE ATTACHED PIC FOR THE LINK -- WHEN I GET ENOUGH REP TO POST A LINK, I'LL EDIT THIS & PUT A REAL LINK UP]

The last two versions of the mods are there:

SD111ALL.exe (50MB)

Version 1.11, released in May 2003, 29 mods total, 10K+ downloads. Pretty stable.

SD112ALL.exe (100MB)

Version 1.12, released in August 2004, 31 mods total (+ many improvements to the 29 mods from Ver 1.11), about 1K downloads. If too many of the big campaigns in this version are installed at the same time, the game can "overload" at around 40 hours and quests will stop updating (click the Help button on the Master Status Screen of the Installer for tips on which mods to combine to avoid this problem).

P.S. One of the old mods, Orzel's "no-sailing-against-the-wind" mod, was hard-coded by him with a check for the original game CD. Since the GOG release is an online download, if you email a copy of your GOG receipt to me at ghighnote@hotmail.com, I'll send you back the single file that you need to copy into the game to get this one to work (this should preserve the spirit in which his mod was copy-protected).

Enjoy your return to the Archipelago!

Hosehead!! Such a nice surprise to stumble upon you here! Thanks for reuploading the mods, my external including its backup is inaccessible currently and I was looking around madly to find if anybody happened to upload them anywhere.
