i wonder if there was any way to change drawing distance.
i remember that game was able to run in 640x480 but this distance issue is really bothering me
once again - thx GOG and Interplay (Virgin ? :)) for bringig us screamer

The drawing distance is greatly affected by the Detail setting in Options. Unfortunately "Hi" is the highest you can go, but you soon become used to it.
EDIT: Heh, thanks. Checking that in the game made me shave off over a second from my time attack time. :)

nope. not really :) - since i already had 'Hi' details enabled.
looks like drawing distance is hardcoded in screamer engine and cannot be tweaked through config file to go beyound distance rendered by 'Hi' option.

The menu options in Screamer in-game were pretty lame.
In the true version you could enter dos and run setup which gave you the option of either VGA or the mighty SVGA.
Oh the fun times of watching my 1mb trident card crawl with the game set to SVGA. haha !!
There were no other options apart from sound card, jopypad and so on.

It's all still there in the GOG release, if you go poking around in DOSBox for instance...
