Hi Guys,

I am trying to run Schizm in Vista Ultimate 64-bit (and XP), and keep getting the same 0xc0000005 error. I'm including here some log sources I've gotten from the crash - if anyone can suggest what might be the issue, I'd appreciate it!

When I go to a saved game, the game screen goes black and I get a box that says:
Problem opening the file... .\Anims\Anim0085.avi.

When I pull up the event log, I get this:
Faulting application Schizm.exe, version 1.0.0.744, time stamp 0x3af9db46, faulting module QMDX.dll, version 5.0.0.0, time stamp 0x3a254ad0, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00024fc4, process id 0x7e8, application start time 0x01d3f0a0a41371be.

Also found a log file on the game - it says:

I assume this is some kind of Windows issue with Schizm, but I have no clue how to fix it. Sorry if this is too much info on here, but I wanted to be thorough.

It reports trouble playing back Anim0085.avi, in particular it seems the issue is about a specific angle/chunk of that file (Schizm, like Reah, stores all the movement animations within an area in avi files; Schizm uses MJPEG instead of Cinepak though). Can you post checksum of that and related files located in (game directory)/Anims? Mine are as follows:

Hi Wingboner,

Thanks for your response. I actually got it to work in Windows Vista and 7. Since the error files mention the QMDX.dll file several times, I downloaded a new one and stuck it in the syswow64 folder, restarted, and the game runs great. This may be something others can use, as Schizm is notorious for not working in Windows 7. Thanx again!

Schizm refuses to start for me on Win10. I'm wondering if that might be helped with the same fix as you did, where can I downloadQMDX.dll?
