LD0ne: its a Dell Precision 380 model with a Dual Core Pentium D 2.80 ghz CPU with 1 gig of ram and windows xp on it. I don't know what kind of sound or video card it has. I think it might be a legacy audio card and a sigmatel graphic card but don't quote me on that. I tried the compatibility mode it didn't work for me.
Ok I assume you didn't try the sound hardware acceleration and only tried the compatibility settings under the compatibility tab? To get to the sound hardware settings click startmenu --> run... Then type dxdiag into the box and hit ok. Click the sound tab at the top and you will see a hardware sound acceleration slider. If you set that all the way to the left it will turn off sound acceleration. You can then close the dxdiag and try the game again.
If that doesn't work then load up dxdiag agian using the steps above and under the sound tab again it will have a your soundcard information in the box called device. If you could type the exact name into the forums that would help. If you also switch to the display tab and type down the name and chip type of your graphics card.
Be sure to change the sound acceleration back to full by putting the slider back to the right when you want to play different games as this may cause problems in some.
