Sanitarium is a point-and-click adventure game, one that delivers an incredibly dark and demented view of the world in comparison to its contemporaries.
The game is seen from the perspective of a mentally ill man in an asylum, and as you find your way through his various delusions, your true identity becomes more and more clear.
The puzzles were just the right difficulty, and the game kept me entertained. However, Windows Xp has a lot of issues with it. Sanitarium continued to randomly crash as I played it, and I had to continually fight with the compatibility properties to get it to keep running more than ten minutes at a time.
Overall, it's a great game, but requires a lot of patience to deal with the technical issues. If you're like me, the random crashes will make you crazier than most of the patients in the game. But who knows - maybe you should give it a shot.
