This game is very good, and has only a few frustrations.
The good elements about the game is the fairly good story, which is quite dark and has a brooding, eerie quality to it, especially in the beginning I think. The different worlds the main character go through are very different, but all fit in very well with the overal story, which I find to be quite an accomplishment in a game.
Another big plus is that all the puzzles in the game are logical and make sense.
The puzzles, however, also stand for the only major frustration I had with the game. Often what kept me from figuring out a puzzle myself (yes, I used a walkthrough a few times in most chapters) was that sometimes a possible path or object, that can be interacted with, is hard to spot.
The game is very much worth the cost :)
Well, I agree.
I don't use walkthrough though... and I don't have main problems.

This game is a little diamond, I dunno what happened to the software house, but this in one of the best Adventure game ever developed along The Longest Journey, personally.
I just beat Sanitarium and no words can express how impressed I am, especially considering the game's age. Surprisingly enough I consider the game quite easy - it has to be as it's the first time in my life that I've beaten a point & click adventure without using a walkthrough or faq even once. I have to admit that the game does have some frustrating moments, however, generally the solutions are very logical, both for riddles and puzzles. And the plot, style and atmosphere beat most stuff that I have ever seen. Awesome!
This game was a real trip. Really messed with my poor brain!

It's not really horror like, say Amnesia, but it really is a massive head fk!
