Every time I load the game it crashes. Been able to play the other games so far just fine. Is there a easy fix to play this on windows 8.1?

deleting the prefs.prop file worked :)

Thanks deleting the prefs.prop worked for me too.

It works only as long as you are in window mode. If you go in the options and activate full screen, it crashes again immediately.

What worked for me:

Deleting the prefs.prop
starting in Windows mode
In game options turn off high graphics settings, then turn on full screen in that order

Not working in full screen. Not even deleting prefs.prop. Only windowed works :-(
