I recently started playing Saints Row 2 again after several years, moving to GOG from Steam. On Steam, the game worked fine and my system has not changed since then, but on GOG I'm experiencing frequent game freezes causing me to lose progress, which is obviously rather frustrating. I'm on an old Windows 7 install, and the game works fine aside from the freezes. My system is well above minimum requirements.

The freezes seem to happen at random, whether I'm in the middle of a fight or just wandering around the town. Sound continues playing, but the game isn't responding and nothing is actually happening. Does anyone have any idea how to stop the freezes from happening?
