fables22: The reason we've locked our version at 30 FPS is that the game engine is build around 30 FPS and running it at any other breaks cutscenes, scripts, as well as some in-game content. If the cap is removed (ie. if the version of the game is not locked and the game can easily be run at a different FPS), a number of various stability issues arise. Our fix keeps the game stable and hence we won't be reverting it.

However, if any of you really, really want to remove the cap, please get in touch with our Support team and they'll be able to give you instructions on how to do this ;)
That "fix" does not help the situation in the slightest.

Can we have a real solution to the problem please?

If I knew how to get in contact with IdolNinja I would of done so from the start to help with this situation but he most likely has no control overriding your hardcap.

I understand why GOG did this but the method I'm using to unlock the framerate isn't working. Tried reinstalling, tried deleting the old Inspector profiles to use a new one without the limiter, it's still stuck at 30fps. I even contacted Customer Support and they said that the way I did it was supposed to be the only way. So I have no idea how to unlock it now.

Well the way it gets fixed is the GOG team taking their time to fix their screwup and them truly listening to the customers regarding these issues.

I am STILL waiting to play Saints Row 2 the way it was meant to be played, and it sure as hell is not at a 30 FPS hardcap that can't be removed even with the "fix" they provide.
Hard capping the framerate makes this version much worse than the steam one, and capping the fps isn't "fixing" the game.
If someone wants low fps they can cap it to whatever they want from AMD or Nvidia's control panel themselves if problems arise.

If you want to hard cap the framerate anyways, then at least do what Dead Rising 3 devs did and include instructions on the store page how to remove that cap.

Hi fables, I totally did not notice that you answered here. Let me add something to this matter: I absolutely do understand the reason why GOG has capped their version to prevent POSSIBLE problems with the game. However

a) All we want is an additional non capped OPTIONAL version (could be included as hotfix/patch ect. - use at own risk advice) because these problems don't necessarily appear on all systems (I can say for sure because I played the game on steam with higher frames without any problems at all). So if you want to have your version "safe" and capped - no problem - but offer us an optional fix. At the moment I still play the Steam version even though I also do own the GOG version because of that. Really sad.

b) This brings me to the next: You said that support could help us to remove the cap. I highly doubt that support would tell us more than simply remove the nvidia inspector cap. However as said before this is NOT the only cap you did. I also removed nvidia inspector fix and the game still is capped like you can read above.

Anyway: You told us to contact support if we want to get instructions to completely remove the cap. I will take you for your word and contact support. I also won't stop contacting them until this cap really is gone. Maybe they wil instruct me with some hexedits - I am curious.

Again: GOG could make this extremely easy and make a lot of people happy. Just pack an executable file, call this uncap fix or whatever and add this to the library. Problem solved with I'd say 15 minutes of work and many pleased customers. Until then I will now contact support :)

Just to let all you people know, Saints Row 2 has no PC optimisation and is a sloppy console port. Back in the day it got bashed hard for this. I am surprised that GoG managed to get this game to a playable state even. Stop complaining. If they didn't, the forums would be swarmed with vicious comments about game being unplayable and the refund requests would be going through the roof.

The PC conversion of Saint's Row 2 was made by CDPR, sister company of gog.com, and this is your idea of a solution. Bother support. Don't they have better things to do? Evidently not.

And what you describe as a "fix" is anything but. It's actually really patronizing, in light of who made the PC conversion. If anyone is capable of actually fixing this broken port, it's the ones who made it in the first place - one would think.

Instead, a community manager is trying to be smart and witty in broken English. Comes off as a bit tone deaf.

Not really, what is surprising is that after CDPR made this half-assed port, that gog.com made a quarter-assed "fix" for it and called it a day. gog.com and CDPR programmers are some of the best in the world, so this is just a matter of policy. Neither CDPR or gog.com have any interest in making their port actually function as a proper PC game and that's a shame. So don't praise them too much for this hackjob.

If you didn't read about it on the forums already, get the Gentlemen of the Row mod, which, among else, fixes many bugged missions and tweaks driving (to a degree).

Nothing new here. I think everybody now should be aware that this game is a really bad port. However many people ( including me) could play it just fine without any cap. So there is NO REASON to not just add it OPTIONALLY! Nobody is forcing GOG to change the cap for good - all we ask is for an OPTION to change it.

As I was told by fables22 I contacted support about giving me instructions to remove the cap from the game. All they told me (which was not unexpected) was to use the wiki instructions to remove the invidia inspector cap. Here is the result:

GOG verision (after disabling inspector cap):

Steam Version (Vanilla):

Need more proof?

Also made a wishlist enty now.
