This issue plagued me on Steam so I went ahead and bought this game on GOG in the hopes it was just a problem that GOG fixed versus the steam version.

And it wasn't.

Whenever I try to play the game, I will be invariably hit in short time by a bug that freezes the screen of my game. I can hear the music play, I can still give orders, but nothing is happening on screen. Alt tabbing just gives me a black screen when I return.

Tried both start up graphics options. Only difference there was when I tried to use T&L HAL on Steam it auto crashed the game on start-up.
