I'm noticing that when lightning starts either during the cutscenes or when your descerating an altar, the sky background becomes completely white for a split second each time the effect is supposed to go off. The ground, and any terrain or buildings will remain but the sky graphics completely disappear. I have the graphics settings on max if that helps.

I've noticed this too ... with all lightning effects (e.g. when it's raining). I'm not really sure this wasn't in the original (can't remember something from 8 years ago). So this may not really be a bug.
Edit: I did try various graphic settings; all to no avail.

I was thinking the same thing, it's been so long since I've played the original version of it. The only things that hinted that it could have been a bug is that it actually blended the manalith into the background since the sphere on top was a light color, which seemed pretty weird. Also it looks really out of place to me.
What video card are you using?
Try the game with Vertical Sync on and off.
Also depending on your video card brand turn off any forcable filtering features.
- Anisotropic filtering and antialising etc.
make sure that they are controlled by sacrifice and not enforced by your video card drivers.
I'm having lightning issues also (both on my laptop and my desktop pc - both ATI cards)
Whenever the lightning goes off, some of the floor flashes totally white and some doesn't....looks very odd.
Tried altering:
anti-aliasing
ansiotropic filtering
vsync on/off
Cat AI off/low
to see if i can get it to stop, but no luck yet....
I'm having this exact same issue. Lightning turns the sky completely white. Looks to be a bug, and is distracting as hell.
This is on a GeForce 8800 with latest drivers on XP SP2.
Hello
please send this error to our tech support. Please attach dxdiag
I don't think it's a bug, really. It's supposed to be lighting. It's supposed to go completely white.

Same here with ATI HD3200. Seems to be graphics card related. Forcing "Wait for vertical refresh" = "forced off" seems to have solved problem or at least radically reduced it.

That'd be too many lightings. Happens everywhere.

Any update on this issue? Just bought this game and it looks like awesome fun! I've tweaked various settings in my catalyst control centre etc like everyone else, but hasn't resolved the white sky when lighting strikes. Really hope this can get sorted ;)
