Right-Click the GOG "launch Sacred 2 GOLD" program icon, select "Properties," and make the following changes to the compatibility modes therein:
1) Select the "Compatibility" tab
2) Put a check in the Run the program in compatibility mode for "Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)"
3) Put a Check in the "reduced color mode" box and select "16-bit color"
4) Put a check in the "Disable fullscreen optimizations" box (this one may be optional)
5) Left-click the "Change high DPI settings" and select "Override high DPI scaling behavior" and select "Application" from the drop down menu
6) Left-Click "OK," which closes the DPI settings box
7) Back to the main properties tab for "Launch Sacred 2 Gold Properties" box
8) Left click "Apply"
9) Left-click "OK"
10) Run the game from the Launch Sacred 2 Gold program icon.

Note: after updating the game through Galaxy, the error boxes mentioned here no longer show up! So ignore this section.
You will see at first two small error boxes that pop up one after the other as the game loads on a black screen--ignore them! Wait a few seconds (be patient) for the Ascaron screen to load, and then a few other logo screens, and then the game itself will load. It may take a few seconds to load the starting screen for the game, so just be patient...;)

Once the game screen loads then make your options selections and begin your game. I play single-player exclusively in this game. Game runs at normal speeds.
I run the game @ 3840x2160. Here are my hardware and software settings:
MSI Gaming Pro Carbon AC UEFI bios 2.F0
Corsair CX-750M PSU (62a x1 12v rail)
AMD Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.8GHz, voltage set, 1.385V, 65W TDP
RAM 16GB 2x8GB, Patriot Viper Elite @3200MHz 16 16 16 36 1T
Stock AMD cooler (95W version--thanks AMD!)
LG MultiDrive DVD writer SATA
Boot: Samsung 960 EVO NVMe 250GB (UEFI boot partition)
